In my quest to learn how to garden, I have visited many different websites looking for the best tips on gardening. Most of the information overlapped as I discovered that gardening is actually quite simple. It only takes a few steps and can be actually quite hands free as long as you maintain a weeding schedule.
Start With Rich Soil
If you are planting a garden where you know the soil conditions aren’t that great, you can amend the soil with compost so that your seeds will grow well. You can also use a soil less mixture which is similar to potting soil by combining three ingredients: compost, peat moss and vermulicite in equal proportions. If you choose to use this method, you will not have to weed your garden at all!
Buy Good Seeds
Often when you grow a veggie garden, you may find that not all the seeds sprout. This could be due to buying your seed packages from stores that have old stock. Make sure you buy your seeds from a reputable retailer that has higher turnover so you know that you are not getting last year’s stock.
Water, Water, Water
Once your garden is all planted, you do need to make sure that you have a watering schedule. The best time to water your garden is first thing in the morning. Set your sprinkler or soaker hose on a timer so that it waters your garden for at least 20 minutes every day. Not only will your plants not dry up during the heat of the day, but you will also get a higher vegetable yield.
Fertilize
If you have planted in nutrient-rich soil, then you may not need to fertilize that often. Make sure to add compost to your garden halfway through the growing season so that it gets an extra boost.

There is a lot of discussion regarding the purpose of pH levels in a reservoir. This is what makes hydroponics so interesting. When I first started, I made the usual mistakes with pH levels. Novice growers forget or don’t understand the importance of having your pH levels set just right. Once you realize that pH will dictate the health of your plants, you will find out how easy it is to grow your own vegetables without problems.
PH is important because it dictates what elements are available to the plants. At the higher pH levels, nutrients like magnesium and phosphorus become available. If the pH level is set too low, your plants will be deficient in these elements. This is why one must ensure that the pH is correct before making any changes to their feeding regimen. Most of the time, just adjusting the pH levels will correct all of the problems one is having.

I was at the mall last week doing some early Christmas shopping, and I was so happy that I decided to do it early this year. I have been trying to find a cool hydroponics gift for my dad, since he is into that stuff, and he never has time to shop for himself. I found a little hydroponics gardening kit, which has grow lamps and nutrient packets that you simply add to water and then feed the plants with. I think he will be surprised, since he has kept it a secret from the family that he is trying to get a garden like this going at home. I found out about it when I happened to find his hydroponics book in the bathroom, while I was doing some housecleaning one day. I know that he is going to be really surprised, and hopefully he will not be too mad about me spoiling his surprise for the family.

Building a good backyard landscapes does not need to be a vast and complicated endeavor. That does not mean it will not require hard work and planning. It just means that you want to be sure you have our ducjks in a row. Myself, I favor simplicity in planing and implementation, as I find this saves time and money. For instance, how are you going to design your patio or deck? Do you need to do any concrete resurfacing? What kind of wood and paint will you use for the deck? Also, when thinking about fencing, it is good to consider the size and scope of that too. There are two main types of fencing that you can go with, but fence types are not limited to these. You can go with a wood fence, and paint it a medium shade of brown to give the yard a nice woodsy feel, or you can go with a chain-link fence and plant taller bushes for privacy.
